PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Ludher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castle comes to the cage accompanied by Don't worry, Be happy. Ludher is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Shook Ones Part II - by Mobb Deep. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Castle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Ludher!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ludher gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ludher takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Castle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Castle looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ludher tries to bum rush Castle with a series of wild strikes but Castle uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ludher misses with a straight right.
Castle throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ludher attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Ludher throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Castle on the side of the head.
Ludher closes the distance and clinches up with Castle, looking for a takedown. Ludher pushes Castle against the cage but Castle circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ludher looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Castle is fending him off so far but Ludher persists. Nope, Castle circles away and we're back to standing.
Frank Castle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Ludher.
Castle leaves Ludher with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ludher throws a hook but Castle avoids it easily.

Castle keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ludher stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Ludher is trying hard to land a takedown here. Castle sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Castle counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Ludher throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Castle counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

David Ludher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Castle counters with a nice uppercut.
Castle works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Castle throws a shot from downtown. Ludher moves away and avoids it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ludher misses with a low kick.
Good leg kick by Castle there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Castle lands with a straight right. Ludher didn't see that one coming.
Ludher throws a right and a left that Castle avoids nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Castle lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Castle is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Ludher misses with an uppercut
and Castle counters with a left and a right that stings Ludher.
Ludher lands a jab to Castle's midsection.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ludher shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Castle as he jumps to the side.

Castle ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Castle scores with a crisp jab that stopped Ludher in his tracks.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ludher looks for a takedown but Castle sprawls well.
Ludher dives in and grabs Castle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Castle pushes down on Ludher's head and hops out.
Ludher is breathing heavily.
Castle throws a body punch but Ludher moves out of range.

Ludher shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Castle wants to get back to his feet but Ludher is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Castle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ludher is one step ahead there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ludher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Castle swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ludher won't allow Castle to get back to his feet.
Ludher throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Castle works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Castle pushes Ludher off and scrambles back to his feet.
Ludher closes this distance looking for a takedown but Castle circles away.

Castle ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Ludher changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Castle tries to avoid it but Ludher manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Castle to the ground. Castle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ludher misses with a wild body shot.
Ludher doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Ludher closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Castle to the mat! Castle manages to get full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Castle wants to stand up but Ludher is controlling him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ludher accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Castle wants to sweep here but Ludher controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Castle will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Castle gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

I would just about give that final round to David Ludher.
