Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Basit Ali! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dead Pool! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pool throws a right hand that Ali ducks under and follows up with a left that Ali also avoids with ease. Pool tries to bum rush Ali with a series of wild strikes but Ali uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Pool slaps away a takedown attempt from Ali, before circling back to the center of the mat. Pool throws a right and a left that both miss. Ali fails with a takedown attempt. Pool misses with a few strikes there.
Ali has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Basit Ali. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ali lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pool circles away quickly and effectively. Pool swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nice takedown defense from Pool. No joy for Ali on that attempt. Ali shoots in looking for a takedown but Pool manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ali's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Ali throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pool punishes Ali's body with a nice straight punch. Pool finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ali fails with a takedown attempt from distance. A right-left combo lands from Pool. Ali avoids the body shot from Pool.
Pool throws a head kick but Ali moves out of range.
Ali gets the takedown into side control. Ali looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Pool is avoiding damage well.
Ali is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pool has escaped the position, nice work there. Pool tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ali wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ali tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Ali tries for a kimura but Pool is defending well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ali tries for a kimura but Pool is defending well. Pool struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ali throwing shots but missing, from side control. Ali lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Pool down.
Ali has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ali is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pool has escaped the position, nice work there. Ali in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Pool really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ali. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ali cracks Pool with an elbow. That is naaassty. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pool can do anything to dispel that myth. Pool takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Ali advances to mount. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ali with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Ali is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pool can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ali throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Pool counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Basit Ali seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pool pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ali back to the cage. Pool follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Pool scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Ali tries to clinch but Pool moves out of range. Ali fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ali checks a leg kick nicely. Pool will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. A jab from Pool does it's job there. Pool defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ali. Ali moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Pool misses with a two punch combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ali shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pool defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Basit Ali. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ali has a takedown stuffed. Ali changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pool tries to avoid it but Ali manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pool to the ground. Pool escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Pool will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Pool gets caught napping as Ali dives in and scores a takedown. Pool manages to retain guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ali throwing strikes from guard but Pool blocks nicely. Ali with a flurry of punches that miss. Ali stands and throws Pool's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ali creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pool sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Ali throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Ali misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Ali decides to take the fight back to the feet. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pool looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Ali fails in his attempt to clinch. Ali fails with a takedown attempt. Dead Pool seems to be getting the better of the standup. Pool fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pool is breathing heavily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ali is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Pool. Pool keeps the fight on the outside. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Basit Ali dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Ali is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Ali closes the distance and clinches up with Pool, looking for a takedown. Ali pushes Pool against the cage but Pool circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ali misses with the combination.
Horrible takedown by Ali or perhaps it was just good defense by Pool which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Basit Ali. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ali tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pool manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Pool swinging wildly here.

Ali manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Ali lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pool! Pool is trying to stand up. Pool is trying desperately to improve position. Basit Ali is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ali landing strikes, looking to finish! Ali looking to control but Pool is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Ali lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Pool hang on?
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Pool that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ali is landing with some decent strikes but Pool is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Ali landing shots from mount. Ali landing punches. Pool takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ali tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Ali looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Ali tries to control but Pool wriggling away. Dead Pool has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ali scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Pool?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ali wants to finish this one by submission but Pool is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ali. Pool is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
And that's the end of the fight! Basit Ali showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ali, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
