The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Currie tried to score with a low kick but Man checks it. Man paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Ip Man seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Currie throws a leg kick but Man sees it coming and checks it nicely. Some wild striking there from Man.
Man fails to land with a series of punches.
Currie lands with a hook. Man tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Man rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Currie moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Man throws a leg kick that misses. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Currie lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Man has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Man and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. A looping hook to the body misses from Man. Currie does a little dance to reset his feet. Currie takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Currie's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Currie duly obliges. Man blocks a low kick nicely. Man lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Man lands a nice hook to Currie's body. Currie takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Currie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Currie misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Currie lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Man backs up against the cage.
Man tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Currie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Man misses with a double jab
and Currie counters with a thumping low kick. Currie throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Man avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Man jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
A big right from Man misses. Currie dodges the punch combination from Man.
Man closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Currie darts in and clinches Man up against the cage. Man is trying to break the clinch but Currie is controlling him. Man with a knee to the head.

Currie lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Man. Currie blocks the elbow strike.
Currie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Man throws a half hearted mid kick. Man throws a looping overhand right but Currie ducks down to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Man on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Man walks into a stiff left hand from Currie. Man lands a lovely overhand right. Man moves into range and connects with a jab. Currie with a body punch. A glancing blow. Man attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Man lands a right hook to the body.
Currie walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Man checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Currie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Man pinned against the cage. Man gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Man staying out of range there. Man shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. A big right from Man misses. Man throws a lazy right hand but Currie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Man slips a jab and a cross from Currie.

Man shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Man misses with a hook. Currie ducked under it nicely. Jab by Man. A good leg kick by Man. Man swings for the body but Currie moves out of range.
Man getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Ip Man is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Currie shoots in for a takedown but Man shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Currie throws a right and a left that both miss. Man lands a nice leg kick that just misses Currie's sensitive parts. Man throws a combination. Currie tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Man is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Currie had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Good leg kick by Currie there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Currie misses with a wild body shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Currie scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Currie throws a shot from downtown. Man moves away and avoids it.

Currie throws out a loose jab but Man uses good head movement to avoid it. Man looks to land a right hand but Currie moved out of range. Currie throws a body punch but Man moves out of range. Currie scores with a nice right hand.
Man swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Currie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Man manages to avoid it. Man closes the distance and lands a one-two. Man looks to score with a jab to the body but Currie is just out of range. Currie misses with a straight left. Currie scores with a nice head shot. Man just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Currie is looking to land body kicks. Man scores with a jab. Currie keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Man jabbing away but nothing is landing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ip Man dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A solid body kick from Currie. Currie looks to throw the jab but Man is out of range. Man tries to clinch there but Currie circles away.
Ip Man seems to be getting the better of the standup. That kick from Man tenderised Currie's leg. Currie is trying to keep his angry face on. A looping hook to the body misses from Man. Currie does a little dance to reset his feet. Man takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jab by Currie. Currie throws a nice outside leg kick. Currie moves out of range as Man strikes. Man gets in close and instigates a clinch. Currie gets through Man's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Currie misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Still in the clinch, Man scores with a nice short uppercut. Currie throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Man misses with a knee to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Man is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Currie is defending well for now. Man tries to land knees in the clinch but Currie avoids the damage to the body. Man is pressed up against the cage. Currie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Man down to the mat. Man avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. No luck with that takedown attempt from Currie. Man avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Currie lands a nice shot that snaps Man's head back.

Man lands a really nice looking cross but Currie seems unphased.

Currie jabs at Man's body. Currie dives in and scores a takedown into Man's guard. Currie won't allow Man to get back to his feet. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Currie passes Man's left leg - he's now in half guard. Currie prevents Man from standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Currie lands strikes from half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Currie trying to control the action but Man is working from the bottom. Currie has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. BOOM! Currie connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Currie raining down shots from the mount! Man in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The referee warns Man that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Currie is in the full mount, landing strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Man keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Currie landing shots from mount. Currie moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Man has worked his arm free - good work by Man!
Currie looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Currie lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Man down.
Currie misses with the ground and pound. Man throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Man fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Currie is out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Man looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Man tries to clinch up but Currie circles away and keeps his distance. Currie throws a head kick but Man moves out of range.
Currie misses the shot to the body. Man buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Currie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Man sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Currie somewhat. Nice cross by Man. Currie scores with the left hand. Man knows he should have avoided that one. A right-left combo lands from Man. A shot to the liver by Man. Beautiful body shot. Man wants to slow Currie down by chopping away at his legs. Man throws a low kick but Currie avoids it. Currie circles away from the clinch attempt.

Currie looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Man!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Man tries to buck Currie off but he can't manage it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Currie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Man is looking to escape. Currie in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Man's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Currie has hold of Man's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Man manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Man wants to control but Currie is having none of it. Man wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Currie. You get the feeling that Man really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Currie cracks Man with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Man is trying to stand up. Man takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Currie connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Man is trying to stand. Currie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Currie unloading with bombs! Man's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Currie with shots to the head and body - Man looks very uncomfortable down there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Currie lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Currie avoids the attempt from Man to control. Currie pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Man taking shots to the head. Currie wants to finish this one by submission but Man is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Currie. Currie trying to control but he's not successful this time. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Currie dominating with strikes here.
