Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter Tosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Penagos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tosh comes to the cage accompanied by Stepping Razor. Penagos is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Somebody Gonna Get Their Ass Whooped!. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tosh lands with a thumping leg kick.
Penagos misses with a body shot
and Tosh cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Penagos throws a big shot that misses. Tosh missing with a left hand there. Penagos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Penagos swings and misses with a shot to the body enabling Tosh to counter with a crisp jab. Tosh jabs Penagos to the body, keeping him at a distance. Penagos throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tosh sees it coming and avoids it easily. Penagos is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A looping hook to the body misses from Penagos. Tosh does a little dance to reset his feet. Penagos tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tosh was well out of range. Poor timing from Penagos. Penagos bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Tosh throws a body punch but Penagos moves out of range. Penagos looks to clinch and Tosh decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Penagos's guard.

Tosh wants to pass the guard but Penagos is keeping the position. Tosh trying to control the position from guard on top but Penagos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tosh pushing down on Penagos's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Tosh is taking a breather. Penagos says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Tosh is looking for a kimura here.

Tosh passes to full mount! Penagos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Tosh with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Penagos is desperately trying to improve his position but Tosh has a good base and remains in mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tosh takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Tosh cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Tosh is in the full mount, landing strikes. Tosh lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Penagos hang on? Penagos is bucking up trying to escape but Tosh cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tosh mounts Penagos! Really nice guard pass there! Tosh with a couple of short strikes. Tosh dominating with strikes here. The referee warns Penagos that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Tosh decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Tosh prevents Penagos from improving his position. Tosh is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Tosh throwing shots but Penagos is blocking nicely. Penagos looks like he's trying to stand up.

Tosh wants to control the pace but Penagos is squirming around nicely. Tosh avoids the attempt from Penagos to control. Tosh lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
This has been an exciting period of action! Tosh raining down hammerfists from mount. Penagos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tosh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Penagos really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
