PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rico Ramano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramano is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Sabotage. On his way into the cage it seems that John Evans has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily John Evans seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rico Ramano!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramano misses with a series of wild punches.
A head kick misses from Ramano.
Evans tries to bum rush Ramano with a series of wild strikes but Ramano uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Ramano clinches up with Evans and pushes him back against the cage.
Ramano misses with a knee strike.

Ramano breaks from the clinch.

Evans looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Evans is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Evans is looking to take a break and control but Ramano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Evans is just content to waste time from the top position. Ramano takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Ramano lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Evans!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Evans is in all sorts of trouble here.
Evans is working hard here to advance position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramano tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Evans wants to hold on but Ramano pushes him away.
Ramano sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Evans keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ramano tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Evans wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Ramano tries to control but Evans wriggling away.
Ramano takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Evans tries to reverse the position but Ramano maintains control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Evans squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Ramano scoring with strikes but Evans is staying in there.
Ramano content just to control the position here.
Ramano lands a nice shot to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ramano controlling from the full mount.
Ramano looking to control but Evans is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Evans is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Ramano dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Evans is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Evans tries to clinch there but Ramano circles away.
Evans changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ramano tries to avoid it but Evans manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ramano to the ground. Ramano escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Evans wants to clinch.
Ramano closes the distance looking to clinch

and Evans counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Evans.
Ramano lands a nice elbow.
Evans keeps control of Ramano as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Evans manages to break the clinch.

Ramano has closed the distance and engaged Evans in a clinch.

Ramano breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Evans avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans moves away from the strike by Ramano.

Ramano has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ramano misses with an elbow strike.

Ramano breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Evans fails with a takedown attempt.

Evans clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ramano is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Evans pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Evans blocking some punches.
Ramano misses with a short punch on the inside.
Evans jumps guard but Ramano stands there with Evans around his waist. Evans gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Evans. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Evans breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ramano misses with a head kick.
Ramano is breathing heavily.
Ramano tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Evans cracks the inside of Ramano's front leg.
Evans wants to clinch up but Ramano keeps it at a distance.
Evans defending well as Ramano loads up on a big left hand.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Ramano knocks Evans out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rico Ramano!
