Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bill H Ahellno! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, VanChristian Slayter! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ahellno swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Slayter. Slayter swats away the attempt to clinch by Ahellno. Bill H Ahellno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ahellno uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Slayter. Ahellno buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ahellno misses with a series of wild punches.
Slayter takes a body punch but keeps moving. Slayter's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Slayter duly obliges. Ahellno throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Slayter sees it coming and avoids it easily. Slayter lands with a nice body punch. Slayter throws a jab but it's blocked by Ahellno. Ahellno waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Slayter. Slayter throws a series of punches but Ahellno avoids them all with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ahellno scores with a crisp jab that stopped Slayter in his tracks. A slow jab from Ahellno misses its intended target. Ahellno moves into the clinch. Slayter lands a nice uppercut. Ahellno prevents a body shot from Slayter. A head punch on the inside from Slayter fails to land. Slayter swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ahellno tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Slayter just stands there and leans against the ropes. Slayter lands a right hand that snaps the head of Ahellno backwards. Ahellno tries to pull guard but Slayter forces him back to his feet, against the ropes. Slayter lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Ahellno jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Slayter walks away with a smile on his face. Ahellno gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill H Ahellno. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ahellno lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Ahellno tries to clinch but Slayter moves out of range. Ahellno throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ahellno is looking to clinch. Ahellno throws a hook to the side of Slayter's head but Slayter sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ahellno swinging wildly here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Slayter fails with a takedown attempt. Ahellno looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Ahellno jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Slayter misses with a wild body shot. Slayter slips a jab from Ahellno. Ahellno misses the jab. A telegraphed right hand from Ahellno misses the target. Slayter stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Ahellno slips a jab from Slayter.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ahellno moves away from the strike by Slayter. Slayter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ahellno is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Ahellno tries to clinch there but Slayter circles away.
Ahellno with a nice cross. Ahellno closes the distance but Slayter moves to the side and Slayter counters with a nice uppercut. Ahellno lands a nice hook to Slayter's body. Slayter takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Ahellno moves out of range of the strikes. Ahellno misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Slayter.
Slayter pushing out the jab but it's not landing. A looping hook to the body misses from Ahellno. Slayter does a little dance to reset his feet. Ahellno is looking to clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slayter misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ahellno misses with a hook. Slayter uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ahellno. A big left from Ahellno misses. A jab from Ahellno misses. Good exchange - Ahellno coming out on top. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ahellno wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Ahellno takes the fight into the clinch. Ahellno tries to pull guard but Slayter holds him up against the ropes and eventually Ahellno drops back down to his feet.
Slayter misses with a body punch.
Ahellno decides to pull guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Slayter throws a big elbow that misses.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Ahellno utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Ahellno keeping moving, preventing Slayter from controlling successfully. Ahellno is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Slayter is aware though and is defending well. Slayter wants to control from the top but Ahellno keeps moving. Ahellno has his foot on Slayter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Slayter works his way back into a safe position though. Slayter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Slayter trying to control the position from guard on top but Ahellno is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Slayter forces his way into half guard. Slayter wants to work for an arm triangle but Ahellno is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ahellno looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Slayter thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Slayter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Ahellno tries to roll over but Slayter keeps him under control.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Ahellno slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ahellno is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ahellno is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ahellno is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Slayter is aware though and is defending well. Slayter wants to pass the guard but Ahellno is keeping the position. Ahellno has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Slayter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Ahellno preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Slayter distracts Ahellno with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Ahellno avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Slayter postures up and lands a big shot to Ahellno's brow.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Slayter makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Slayter is posturing up here but Ahellno has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Slayter tries to roll out but it's too tight and Slayter has to tap! Slick submission there by Ahellno!
