Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ben Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Souza is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by i am #1. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Franklin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leon Souza!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franklin closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Souza quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Souza misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Souza is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Souza looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Souza regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Franklin.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Franklin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Souza swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Franklin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Franklin postures up in Souza's guard and throws a big left but Souza blocks it.
Souza pushes Franklin off and scrambles back to his feet.
Franklin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Souza is staying active underneath Franklin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Franklin throwing shots but Souza is blocking nicely.

Souza is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Franklin is staying active.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Souza is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Franklin scores with a couple of nice shots.
Souza makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Souza.
Franklin trying to control but Souza is working from the bottom.

Franklin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Souza looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Franklin has picked Souza up and slammed him! Souza can't keep hold of the triangle and Franklin manages to pass to side control!

Souza sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Franklin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Souza tries to kick Franklin off but Franklin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Souza moves into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Souza is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Franklin is aware though and is defending well.
Souza has his foot on Franklin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Franklin works his way back into a safe position though.
Franklin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Franklin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Souza is rocked!
Souza wants to sweep here but Franklin controlling him for the moment.
Souza throws his legs up looking for a submission but Franklin uses it to pass to side control.

Souza is still in real trouble! Can Franklin finish him?

Franklin is putting a hurting on Souza here, landing some big shots from side control.

Franklin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Souza some visible discomfort.
Franklin lands a strong strike to the head of Souza. That's dazed him! Franklin looking to finish here. Souza is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Franklin lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ben Franklin!
