PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilbert Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kingston comes to the cage accompanied by 2pac - I'm Soulja. Melendez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by 2Pac-Ballad of a Dead Soulja. The key to victory for Nate Kingston has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Kingston throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Melendez counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Kingston is trying to maintain the position but Melendez is very close to passing his half guard.

Kingston drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Melendez dives on top into guard.

Melendez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kingston.

Kingston pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Melendez back to the cage. Kingston follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Melendez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kingston has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Melendez has managed to get both his arms back between Kingston's legs - danger averted.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gilbert Melendez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kingston misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kingston fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kingston throws a nice looking combination but Melendez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kingston tries to land a leg kick but Melendez saw it coming and moves away.
Kingston throws a right and a left that Melendez avoids nicely.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kingston lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Melendez has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Melendez and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Melendez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kingston gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Melendez is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kingston is defending well.
Melendez is working for takedown but Kingston is calmly controlling the position for now.
Nate Kingston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gilbert Melendez.
Melendez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kingston is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Melendez gets through Kingston's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Melendez takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Melendez has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Kingston clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
