Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brian Maddox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sadiq Hossein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maddox closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hossein circles away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Maddox shoots in for a double leg but Hossein sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Maddox ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

and Maddox counters with a good low kick that Hossein was not able to check.

Maddox shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hossein napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Brian Maddox will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Sadiq Hossein's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Maddox drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hossein looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hossein looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hossein!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maddox tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hossein wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brian Maddox.
