Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matthew Gallant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Jonberg! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jonberg throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jonberg tries to clinch but Gallant moves away so Gallant counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jonberg wants to control but Gallant passes easily into half guard.
Gallant wants to pass to mount but Jonberg is defending the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jonberg trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Jonberg prevents Gallant from taking his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jonberg is looking to get to half guard. Gallant moves to take his opponent's back. Jonberg rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gallant prevents Jonberg from improving his position. Gallant works his way into full mount! Gallant wants to take Jonberg's back but he can't do it this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jonberg working to try and regain half guard.
Jonberg is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jonberg tries to hold on but Gallant postures up. Jonberg can't escape the position.
Gallant goes for an armbar but Jonberg turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jonberg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Gallant dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Jonberg is looking to clinch but Gallant is avoiding it.
Jonberg misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gallant.
Jonberg is looking to clinch. Jonberg moves to clinch but Gallant breaks away and Gallant counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Jonberg is looking for a sweep. Gallant is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gallant is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jonberg doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gallant. Jonberg trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Gallant manages to pass to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gallant is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jonberg is surviving well by controlling Gallant's body position as best he can. Jonberg tries to improve his position but instead Gallant has taken his back! Gallant is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Jonberg has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jonberg trying to control but not successfully. Jonberg can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jonberg trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Gallant has the hooks in. Jonberg is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Gallant is persistently looking for the submission but Jonberg is defending it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Gallant dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Jonberg tries to clinch but Gallant moves away and Gallant counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jonberg won't be happy with that. Gallant tries to advance to mount but Jonberg denies him. Jonberg looking for a sweep but Gallant has passed into full mount! Oh no! Jonberg tries to lock up and control but Gallant gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Gallant goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jonberg is on top in guard.
Matthew Gallant overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jonberg trying to control but Gallant is working from the bottom.
Michael Jonberg has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Gallant shoots in looking for a takedown but Jonberg manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gallant's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Jonberg misses with the combination.
Jonberg lands with a hook. Gallant tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jonberg tries to clinch up. Jonberg gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Knees in the clinch landing for Jonberg.
Jonberg is pushing Gallant up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Jonberg gets underhooks to prevent Gallant's takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jonberg connects with a nasty looking knee right to Gallant's face.

Gallant can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Gallant. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gallant takes a knee to the side of the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jonberg stalling.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jonberg manages to break the clinch.
Jonberg uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Jonberg wants to clinch up but Gallant keeps it at a distance. Jonberg tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gallant swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gallant avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Michael Jonberg is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jonberg is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Jonberg lands a leg kick that knocks Gallant off balance momentarily. Michael Jonberg has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jonberg tries a head kick but it misses.
Jonberg clinches. Gallant drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gallant goes for a takedown attempt but Jonberg pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jonberg forces Gallant back against the cage and clinches. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jonberg breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jonberg connects with a single shot there.
And that's the end of the fight! Michael Jonberg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Gallant has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
