With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George St Pierre II!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St Pierre II shoots in but no luck this time.

St Pierre II shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
St Pierre II must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Franklin looking to control.
Franklin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because St Pierre II is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Franklin looking for a sweep. Not yet Franklin, not yet.
St Pierre II works over Franklin with some ground and pound from guard.
St Pierre II loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Franklin is on top in guard.

Franklin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down St Pierre II for as long as he can get away with.

St Pierre II is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Franklin trying to control the position from guard on top but St Pierre II is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

St Pierre II has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Franklin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for St Pierre II.
St Pierre II is trying to improve his position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



St Pierre II closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - St Pierre II lands in his opponent's guard.

St Pierre II wants to work for an arm triangle but Franklin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Franklin doesn't manage to clinch there - St Pierre II circles away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Franklin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
St Pierre II wants to get back to full guard but Franklin has passed into side control.
Franklin manages to capitalize on a mistake by St Pierre II to take his back!
Franklin is landing with strikes from the back.
St Pierre II manages to reverse the position and now he's in Franklin's guard. Nice work there by St Pierre II.
Franklin controls St Pierre II momentarily but St Pierre II frees himself.

Franklin wants to stand up but St Pierre II is controlling him.

St Pierre II stands up and waves to Franklin to follow him.
Franklin fails with the takedown

and St Pierre II counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by St Pierre II.

St Pierre II postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Franklin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of St Pierre II, into his guard.

St Pierre II looking for a guillotine here but Franklin defends easily.

St Pierre II has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Franklin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George St Pierre II showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



St Pierre II shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than St Pierre II was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

St Pierre II takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

St Pierre II is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

and Franklin counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Franklin scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Franklin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and St Pierre II counters with a single leg into guard. Franklin didn't expect that.
St Pierre II has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Franklin is proving hard to escape from.

St Pierre II has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Franklin to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! St Pierre II is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Franklin pulls down on the head and he's put St Pierre II to sleep! This one is all over!
