PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bingo Ramera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Dragon's choice of entrance music: Taio Cruz-Dynamite. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bingo Ramera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Dragon!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramera on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Dragon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ramera to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Dragon has a closed guard, preventing Ramera from standing up.
Ramera being controlled here momentarily.
Ramera wants to get up but he can't break Dragon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Dragon wants to sweep here but Ramera controlling him for the moment.
Dragon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ramera's corner is telling him to maintain position.

We're going to have a standup here because Bingo Ramera wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Dragon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ramera moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ramera takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Dragon changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Ramera manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dragon on his heels. He'll look to pass Dragon's guard now, I'm sure.

Ramera throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ramera wants to get up but he can't break Dragon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Ramera is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Dragon wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bingo Ramera wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Nice uppercut lands for Dragon. That snapped Ramera's head back.

Ramera will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ramera moves to clinch but Dragon breaks away
and Dragon counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dragon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ramera stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ramera lands a glancing blow to the side of Dragon's head.
Ramera tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Dragon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ramera moves in looking to clinch but Dragon pushes him off.
Ramera darts in trying to clinch
and Dragon counters with a one-two to the body.
Ramera looks to score with a jab to the body but Dragon is just out of range.

Dragon uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Dragon dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ramera. That did some damage!
Dragon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Dragon counters with a stiff right hand.

Dragon lands with a nice body punch.
A punch lands to the side of Ramera 's head but he takes it in his stride.

and Dragon counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Ramera wants to clinch.

Ramera tries to advance to mount but can't.

Dragon is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Dragon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ramera tries to move into full mount but can't pass Dragon's legs.

Dragon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ramera wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dragon manages to get back to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bingo Ramera will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The crowd cheers as Dragon lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ramera doesn't seem phased though.

and Dragon makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Ramera closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ramera is looking to take a break and control but Dragon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dragon tries to improve position but can't.
Ramera slows the pace down.
Dragon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ramera wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bingo Ramera.

Ramera closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ramera wants to pass to mount but Dragon is defending the position.
Ramera is thwarting Dragon's attempts to control the position.

Ramera is pressing down on Dragon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dragon is holding on for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Alex Dragon was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Ramera throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Dragon comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Ramera swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Dragon gets caught flat footed, as Ramera shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dragon is controlling Ramera's posture.
Bingo Ramera overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dragon tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ramera stays in close to Dragon's body and controls the position.

Ramera decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dragon, up you get!
Dragon is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ramera takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

and Dragon counters with a left and a right that stings Ramera.

Ramera is looking to clinch.
Dragon takes a swing at Ramera's ribcage but misses.

Ramera drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Dragon is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Ramera has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bingo Ramera.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ramera, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
