Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cecil Peoples (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilkins comes to the cage accompanied by DMX - Ain't no sunshine. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jay Wilkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Cecil Peoples! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilkins fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Peoples avoids it really well and circles away. Peoples slaps away a takedown attempt from Wilkins, before circling back to the center of the mat. Wilkins shoots in looking for a takedown but Peoples manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wilkins's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Wilkins. That's going to take a lot out of him. A combination from Peoples does no damage. Peoples instigates a clinch. Wilkins works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Peoples is looking to stand up but Wilkins isn't so interested in that idea. Wilkins throws a big right hand that misses. Wilkins in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Peoples lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Peoples gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wilkins to score an easy takedown into full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peoples scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Peoples takes the fight into the clinch. Wilkins drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Peoples gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Peoples is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Wilkins is working for takedown but Peoples is calmly controlling the position for now. Peoples breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Peoples closes the distance looking to clinch and Wilkins counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Peoples tries to clinch there but Wilkins circles away.
Peoples cracks Wilkins with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Peoples tries to clinch there but Wilkins circles away.
Peoples scores with a hook to the body. Wilkins takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Peoples connects with an inside leg kick. Wilkins fails with a takedown attempt. Peoples keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Wilkins is breathing heavily. Wilkins darts in trying to clinch and Peoples counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Wilkins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Peoples tries to avoid it but Wilkins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Peoples to the ground. Peoples escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peoples takes the fight into the clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Peoples lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Wilkins misses with a punch to the body.
Peoples gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wilkins.
Peoples pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. The fight moves into the clinch position. Wilkins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Peoples avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Wilkins wants a takedown.

Cecil Peoples dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Peoples's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Wilkins throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Wilkins goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Peoples is on top in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Peoples engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Peoples postures up.
Wilkins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Peoples can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Peoples looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. A nice elbow there by Wilkins. Peoples avoids a series of strikes thrown by Wilkins.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wilkins had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Peoples defends it easily.
