Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rory Velko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Hetzal!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Velko. Those never looked like landing.
Velko looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hetzal misses with the combination.
Hetzal swinging wildly here.
Velko thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Hetzal if he has to take too many more of those.
Hetzal connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Velko scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
It looks like Tim Hetzal has been cut.
Velko throws a head kick but Hetzal moves out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A head kick from Velko lands but Hetzal takes it in his stride.
Velko slips under a jab from Hetzal.
Velko keeps the fight on the outside.

Velko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hetzal moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hetzal doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Velko counters with a left and a right that stings Hetzal.
Velko stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Velko wants it to stay on the feet.
Hetzal wants to clinch up but Velko keeps it at a distance.
Rory Velko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hetzal takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Hetzal looks winded!
Hetzal fails with a takedown attempt.
Rory Velko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Hetzal.
Oooooh!!! Velko has knocked Hetzal down with a huge combo! Velko steps away and waves a wobbly Hetzal back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Hetzal is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hetzal takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
No joy there for Velko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Velko misses with a few strikes there.
Hetzal tries to clinch there but Velko circles away.
Hetzal fails with the takedown
and Velko counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Velko lands a big head kick that sends Hetzal to the canvas! Velko follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rory Velko!
