PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Art Vandelay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hezekiah LeMasters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vandelay comes into the arena with sizzla - solid as a rock blaring out of the sound system. LeMasters is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Careless Whisper by Seether. Art Vandelay has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Art Vandelay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hezekiah LeMasters!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LeMasters on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Vandelay. Vandelay obviously looking to wear him down.

LeMasters drives through with a takedown into guard.
LeMasters wants to control from the top but Vandelay keeps moving.

Vandelay has his foot on LeMasters's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. LeMasters works his way back into a safe position though.
LeMasters chips away with some ground and pound.
LeMasters stands and throws Vandelay's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Vandelay manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
LeMasters passes to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
LeMasters trying to control the action but Vandelay is working from the bottom.
LeMasters lands a decent elbow from side control.
LeMasters wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vandelay keeps working.
Vandelay tries to buck LeMasters off but LeMasters is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
LeMasters prevents Vandelay from escaping the position.

LeMasters goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vandelay has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for LeMasters but great work by Vandelay.

LeMasters is looking to regain half guard here but Vandelay keeps moving and retains side control.
LeMasters prevents Vandelay from improving position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Vandelay closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Vandelay throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Vandelay connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
LeMasters is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
LeMasters showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Vandelay.
LeMasters throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vandelay's waist but Vandelay gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing LeMasters off to one side.
Vandelay looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Vandelay throws a good cross that connects.
Vandelay thuds his shin into the meat of LeMasters's side.
Vandelay throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
LeMasters has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Vandelay lands a two punch combo.
No luck for LeMasters with that takedown attempt.
LeMasters looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Art Vandelay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hezekiah LeMasters.
Vandelay lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Vandelay throws a head kick that misses.
LeMasters wants to clinch up but Vandelay keeps it at a distance.
An inside leg kick from Vandelay misses.
Vandelay lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

LeMasters changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vandelay looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
LeMasters looks gassed!
Vandelay is looking for a sweep.

LeMasters is chipping away with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vandelay is trying to get back to half guard.
LeMasters wants to control but Vandelay is keeping him busy.
LeMasters cracks Vandelay with a big elbow.
Vandelay manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
LeMasters lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Vandelay is trying to control but can't.

Vandelay looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
LeMasters working Vandelay over with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

LeMasters is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Vandelay is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
