PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between OK Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Leis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fighter kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pawn Shop - Sublime. Leis has chosen No Sleep - Wiz Khalifa as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, OK Fighter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jesse Leis!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fighter as he jumps to the side.
Jesse Leis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fighter is looking to score with low kicks.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Leis is defended easily by Fighter.
Leis dives in and grabs Fighter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fighter pushes down on Leis's head and hops out.
OK Fighter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesse Leis.
Fighter lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Leis at a distance.
Fighter misses with an uppercut.

Leis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fighter's half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Leis prevents Fighter from improving his position.
Fighter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Leis is working away from the top position though.
Fighter is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Leis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Fighter trying to control from the bottom.
Leis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fighter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Leis lands a nice short elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Leis is trying to control the action in half guard but Fighter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Leis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Fighter trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fighter wants to improve his position but Leis is controlling well.
Fighter keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Leis throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Fighter to regain full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fighter is on top in guard.

Fighter decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Leis, up you get!

Leis misses with a takedown attempt
and Fighter counters with a low kick, right behind Leis 's knee.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown by Leis or perhaps it was just good defense by Fighter which made him look bad.
Leis shoots in for a double leg but Fighter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Leis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fighter but Fighter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Crunch! Fighter slams his shin into Leis's torso.
Leis looks winded!
Good work by Leis as he checks the leg kick.
Leis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fighter avoids it really well and circles away.

Leis throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fighter tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Leis is in Fighter's guard.
Fighter pulls Leis in close to prevent any damage.
Fighter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leis on the ground.
Fighter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fighter is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that OK Fighter will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Fighter connects with a right hand. Leis shakes it off.
Leis moves out of range as Fighter strikes.
Leis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fighter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Leis somewhat.
Nice takedown defense from Fighter. No joy for Leis on that attempt.
Fighter throws a right hand that misses

and Leis counters with a takedown into side control.
Fighter wants to control but Leis postures up.
Leis working the ground and pound but Fighter is defending the strikes.
Fighter tries to buck Leis off but Leis is having none of it.
Leis lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Fighter down.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fighter tries to improve position but can't.
An elbow from Leis crashes against the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Leis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Leis sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Fighter is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Leis in side control, throwing shots but Fighter defends.
Leis misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
You can see the frustration on Fighter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Fighter can't do much from the bottom here.
Fighter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Leis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ground and pound from Leis seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Leis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Fighter is trying to escape the position but Leis is controlling the position.
Leis trying to control the action but Fighter is working from the bottom.
Fighter on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fighter tries to get out of the position.
Fighter gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Fighter is holding on to half guard well.
Leis working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Leis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fighter keeps working.
Fighter is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Leis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Leis's back!

Fighter is really struggling to control Leis but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Fighter not allowing Leis to control his hands.
Fighter is controlling the position but Leis somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Fighter prevents Leis from improving his position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

OK Fighter has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Leis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Leis showed some decent athleticism there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fighter keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Leis lands strikes from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse Leis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Leis steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Fighter. That one must have hurt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Leis.
Fighter misses with a hook. Leis ducked under it nicely.
Leis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
OK Fighter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesse Leis.
Leis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fighter looks to land a right hand but Leis moved out of range.
Fighter lands a lovely overhand right.
Fighter connects with a body shot that sends Leis's belly button to the back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fighter tries to clinch but Leis is having none of it.
Leis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Leis takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Fighter digs a good body shot into Leis's ribs.
Leis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fighter misses with a wild body shot.
Fighter throws a hook but Leis avoids it easily.
A good leg kick by Fighter.
Leis moves out of range of the body kick.
Nice takedown defense from Fighter. No joy for Leis on that attempt.
Leis on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Fighter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nice uppercut there from Fighter.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Donk. Fighter catches Leis right on the button with a cross.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Fighter - that will leave a mark!

Fighter feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Leis sprawling to the canvas! Leis rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Fighter finish him?!


Leis is rocked!
Fighter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Leis is still on wobbly legs! Can Fighter finish him?
Fighter ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Fighter wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Leis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Leis seems to have recovered his senses.

Fighter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Leis moves away.
Donk. Fighter catches Leis right on the button with a cross.
Fighter throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Leis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Fighter defends it nicely.
Leis has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Fighter.
Leis moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Fighter misses with a body shot.
Fighter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Leis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Leis walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Fighter tries to score with a low kick but Leis moves his leg out of the way.
Leis shoots in but no luck this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter lands a nice leg kick that just misses Leis's sensitive parts.

Fighter lands a left and a right that send Leis crashing to the mat, dazed. Fighter thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Jesse Leis has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Leis moves forwards but Fighter connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Leis misses with a takedown attempt - Fighter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Fighter fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Leis.
Fighter lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Leis falls backwards - clearly groggy! Fighter dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). OK Fighter!
OK Fighter is the new middleweight champion!
A victorious OK Fighter thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
