The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hovi stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Overeem.
Overeem avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Overeem looks to land a combination. Hovi sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Kyle Hovi has been cut.
Overeem fails with a takedown attempt.

Overeem's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hovi throws a push kick but Overeem slaps the foot to one side.
Overeem darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Overeem enables Hovi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Overeem manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Overeem is trying to stand up here but Hovi is controlling him well.
Hovi is taking a breather. Overeem says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Overeem thuds his right hand into Hovi's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hovi shoots in looking for a takedown. Overeem tries to sprawl out of it but Hovi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Overeem manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
