7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jan Nowak! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexander Nevsky! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nowak bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nevsky's head. Nowak looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Nevsky! Nowak is in the full mount, landing strikes. Nowak tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Nowak prevents Nevsky from getting the reversal. Nevsky slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Nevsky has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nowak is working away from the top position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nowak throwing shots but Nevsky is blocking nicely. Nevsky avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Nowak. Nevsky keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. They are putting on a show! Nevsky has hold of Nowak's hands but Nowak slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Nowak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Nevsky tries to get to full guard but Nowak has control of the leg. Alexander Nevsky decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
