Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dean Cross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Montgomery!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cross drives through with a takedown into Montgomery's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Cross lands a couple of digs.
Cross has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cross advances to half guard.
Montgomery trying to hold on to Cross's head to control him but Cross postures up.
Cross throwing shots but Montgomery is blocking nicely.
Cross looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Montgomery looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cross decides to stand and escape the position.
Montgomery tries to clinch up.
Cross closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Montgomery did well to prevent Cross getting side control.

BOOM! Cross connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Montgomery wants to hold on but Cross pushes him away.

Cross takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Cross stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Montgomery moves out of range as Cross throws a body kick.
Cross shoots in for a double leg but Montgomery sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cross fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Montgomery tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cross swivels and escapes.

Montgomery looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cross is fending him off so far but Montgomery persists. Nope, Cross circles away and we're back to standing.

Cross moves into the clinch.
Montgomery is trying to break the clinch but Cross has him pressed against the cage.
Cross lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Montgomery tries to pull guard but Cross holds him up against the cage and eventually Montgomery drops back down to his feet.
Cross successfully pulls guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cross holds on and takes a little breather.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cross kicks Montgomery off and gets to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cross misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Cross darts in and clinches Montgomery up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cross jabs Montgomery to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Montgomery closes the distance looking to clinch
and Cross counters with a nice double leg into side control. Montgomery won't be happy with that.

Montgomery bucks up and tries to throw Cross off but instead Cross has got his back!

Dean Cross overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cross controlling the position well here. Montgomery rolled but Cross kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Cross working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Montgomery is doing well to defend. Cross seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Montgomery is forced to tap and this one is over!
