PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raviel Mutoh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arvo Laar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laar has chosen some random 90's estonia dance song i found on youtube as his entrance music. Arvo Laar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raviel Mutoh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arvo Laar! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A head kick misses from Laar. Laar feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mutoh's calf. Mutoh blocks a head kick by Laar.
Nice uppercut lands for Mutoh. That snapped Laar's head back.
Laar misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mutoh just misses with a punch to the body.
Laar with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Laar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mutoh throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Laar tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mutoh is in Laar's guard. Mutoh controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Laar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laar wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Mutoh manages to pass to side control. Mutoh seems to be looking for submissions.
Mutoh keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Laar is looking to escape. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mutoh lands a nice short elbow. Ground and pound from Mutoh.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mutoh controlling the action here. Laar wants to get back to full guard. Laar wants to control but Mutoh passes into side.
Mutoh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mutoh looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Laar tries to buck Mutoh off but Mutoh is having none of it. Mutoh is working Laar over with some ground and pound from side control. Mutoh lands some shots froms side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laar wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Mutoh trying to control the action but Laar is working from the bottom. Laar is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Mutoh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Mutoh is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Laar knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Laar is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Mutoh lands a decent elbow from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Laar is trying to get back to half guard. Mutoh tries for a kimura but Laar is defending well. Laar is trying to control Mutoh's posture but Mutoh avoids it. Laar is not content to let Mutoh control the position. Laar is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mutoh has just dragged him back down to the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mutoh has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Laar! Mutoh sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Raviel Mutoh dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Mutoh tries for a takedown but Laar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Mutoh moves out of range as Laar throws a body kick.
Laar throws a series of punches but Mutoh avoids them all with ease. A momentary lapse in concentration from Laar enables Mutoh to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Laar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Laar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Mutoh wants to control from the top but Laar keeps moving. Laar has momentary wrist control but Mutoh slips an elbow through the middle. Laar is looking for a triangle but Mutoh pushes his legs off easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mutoh's guard. Laar being controlled here momentarily. Laar is looking to stand up but Mutoh won't let him. Mutoh looking for a sweep. Not yet Mutoh, not yet. Laar is posturing up here but Mutoh has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Laar tries to roll out but it's too tight and Laar has to tap! Slick submission there by Mutoh!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Raviel Mutoh! Raviel Mutoh decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
