Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Muerte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Cowell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

29 - 31 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Cowell! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Muerte drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cowell tries to buck Muerte off but Muerte is having none of it. Muerte cracks Cowell with a big elbow. Cowell is trying to get back to half guard. Muerte trying to control the position but Cowell is working away. Muerte scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cowell to see if he's OK. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cowell avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Muerte. Cowell tries to buck Muerte off but Muerte is having none of it. Muerte works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Cowell manages to work his way to half guard, despite Muerte's best efforts. Muerte thows a huge punch but Cowell dodges it nicely.

I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Muerte connects with a nice short shot to Cowell's temple. Cowell keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Muerte keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Cowell wants to improve his position but Muerte is controlling well.

Cowell is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Muerte's shoulder. That is not cool. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Muerte is looking to reverse the position. Cowell landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Muerte is looking for a sweep. Muerte prevents Cowell from improving position. Cowell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Muerte knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Muerte is looking to regain half guard here but Cowell keeps moving and retains side control. Cowell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Muerte, who protects the arm well. Muerte tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cowell wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Muerte prevents Cowell from improving position. Cowell wants to control but Muerte is keeping him busy. Cowell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cowell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Muerte gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Cowell moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Muerte. Muerte is not content to let Cowell control the position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Cowell thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Thiago Muerte dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cowell regains full guard. Nicely done. Cowell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Muerte won't allow Cowell to sweep him here. Muerte might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Muerte avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cowell keeping full guard, as Muerte tries to pass. Muerte in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Cowell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Muerte defends it easily. Cowell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Muerte stands up over Cowell, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Muerte trying to control but Cowell is working from the bottom. Muerte is in close to Cowell's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Muerte trying to control but Cowell is working from the bottom. Cowell is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Muerte is aware though and is defending well. Cowell trying to control the position.
Muerte advances position into side control! Cowell takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
This has been an exciting period of action! An elbow from Muerte crashes against the mat.
Muerte scores with a couple of short elbows. Muerte cracks Cowell with an elbow. That is naaassty. Muerte advances to full mount. Cowell is in a horrible position here. Muerte smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Cowell is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Muerte unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Cowell wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Muerte celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
