PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luis Carboza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luis Carboza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tyson Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carboza tries to clinch up

and Jackson counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Jackson scores with a couple of short elbows.
Jackson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Carboza down.
Carboza wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Jackson tries to score with some ground and pound. Carboza controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Jackson looks up at the clock and then as Carboza takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jackson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carboza is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jackson is controlling him well.
Check out the look on Jackson's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Carboza is trying to get back to his feet.
Carboza is breathing heavily.

Jackson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Jackson lands a decent elbow from side control.
Jackson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Carboza parries the strikes from Jackson easily there. Jackson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Carboza to escape.
Jackson lands some shots froms side control.
Carboza wants to get back to his feet.
Jackson misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Jackson working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Jackson landing a few strikes.
Jackson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Jackson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Carboza sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Jackson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jackson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jackson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Jackson cracks Carboza with a big right hand but Carboza just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Jackson trying to control the action but Carboza is working from the bottom.

Carboza parries the strikes from Jackson easily there. Jackson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Carboza to escape.
Jackson has knee on belly and moves into mount.
BOOM! Jackson connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Carboza bucks up and throws Jackson to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Carboza moves to clinch but Jackson breaks away

so Jackson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Carboza can't keep his opponent in guard - Jackson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jackson tries to pass to full mount but Carboza defends it.
Carboza wants to get back to his feet.

Jackson wants to work for an arm triangle but Carboza is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jackson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Carboza is not content to let Jackson control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carboza keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson prevents Carboza from standing back up.
Jackson trying to pass the guard but Carboza defending well.
Jackson controlling the pace.
Carboza is looking to escape.

Jackson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Carboza defend it? Jackson steps over the head and cranks it - Carboza is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Jackson!
