Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pep El Marino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Lucas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pep El Marino! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lucas gets a takedown into half guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. El Marino is trying to control but can't.
Lucas is looking for a kimura here.
Lucas is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lucas throwing shots but El Marino is blocking nicely. El Marino tries to get to full guard but Lucas has control of the leg. El Marino manages to escape and get back to his feet! El Marino shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than El Marino was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Lucas is looking to get to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. El Marino tries to control but Lucas wriggling away. Lucas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Lucas has given up his back here.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - El Marino's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Lucas trying to control the hands but El Marino won't let him. A bit of a pause in the action here. El Marino controlling the positon. Lucas just trying to survive but El Marino is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. El Marino tries to keep control of the position but Lucas is staying busy. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lucas tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Lucas can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lucas is squirming around, avoiding El Marino's attempts to control the action. Lucas is trying desperately to improve position. El Marino working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Lucas can't escape the position.
El Marino looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. El Marino misses with a head shot. Lucas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
El Marino is working for a guillotine from mount but Lucas frees his head quite easily.
Lucas wants to hold on but El Marino pushes him away. Lucas is looking to improve his position but El Marino isn't that keen on the idea. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lucas regains half guard. Lucas wants to control but El Marino is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Thiago Lucas will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
El Marino pulls out of a head kick attempt.
El Marino stuffs the takedown. El Marino looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Lucas is looking to control El Marino's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lucas avoid being mounted? Lucas has one foot on El Marino's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. El Marino moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Lucas shoots and misses and El Marino finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. El Marino closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lucas quickly recovers to half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! El Marino takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lucas is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but El Marino pulls his head out easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. El Marino seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
El Marino slows the pace down in half guard. Lucas throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

El Marino thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lucas's head. Pep El Marino has got the better of the ground game so far. Lucas is looking to improve his position.
Lucas is looking to control El Marino's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lucas avoid being mounted? El Marino trying to control from half guard but Lucas is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. El Marino wants to stand up but Lucas has a hold of him and won't allow it. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. El Marino prevents Lucas from standing back up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Lucas gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows El Marino to score an easy takedown into full guard. Lucas looking for submissions from the bottom but instead El Marino passes into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Well, if El Marino is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Lucas works a leg free and moves into half guard. Lucas is trying to work for a kimura but El Marino is defending well.
El Marino is trying to stand up here but Lucas is controlling him well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. El Marino is not content to let Lucas control the position. Lucas is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! El Marino is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
