Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Wain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerlach Rutger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wain comes to the cage accompanied by Bring the Noise. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Wain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
27 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Gerlach Rutger! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Wain finds it's way through Rutger's defenses.
It looks like Gerlach Rutger has been cut. Wain tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Rutger shoots in and bounces Wain off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Wain escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rutger gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rutger trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rutger is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Rutger stopping the sweep attempt from Wain. Wain pulls Rutger in close to prevent any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wain looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Wain trying to control the position.
We're going to have a standup here because John Wain wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Rutger drives through with a takedown into guard. Wain tries to land a sweep but no joy. Wain is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rutger wants to control from the top but Wain keeps moving. Rutger throws a big right hand that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wain being controlled here, momentarily. Rutger stopping the sweep attempt from Wain. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Wain wants to clinch up but Rutger keeps it at a distance. John Wain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rutger misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wain.
Rutger staying out of range there. Wain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rutger tries to avoid it but Wain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rutger to the ground. Rutger escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Wain looks for a takedown but Rutger sprawls well. Wain closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rutger circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Wain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rutger gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Wain darts in trying to clinch and Rutger decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wain's guard. Rutger stopping the sweep attempt from Wain. Wain preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Rutger throws a big elbow that misses. Wain keeping moving, preventing Rutger from controlling successfully. Rutger wants to pass the guard but Wain is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wain working a defensive guard but Rutger passes into half guard.
Wain trying to hold on to Rutger's head to control him but Rutger postures up.
Rutger seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wain on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Wain trying to control here.
Wain tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Rutger has advanced to mount. Uh oh. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rutger landing shots from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gerlach Rutger dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gerlach Rutger's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Rutger manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wain on his heels. He'll look to pass Wain's guard now, I'm sure. Rutger is in close to Wain's body, working some short punches and elbows. Wain throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Rutger throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Rutger with a nice head shot there. Wain is trying to keep Rutger in close.
Rutger being controlled here momentarily. Rutger working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rutger trying to control but Wain is working from the bottom. Rutger looking to sit in guard and control but Wain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wain postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Gerlach Rutger has got the better of the ground game so far. Wain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wain throws an elbow that misses. Rutger uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wain's guard. Nice move by Rutger! Rutger working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Rutger looking to pass the guard. Rutger sitting in guard, not really doing much. Rutger landing with the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rutger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rutger has managed to get both his arms back between Wain's legs - danger averted. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rutger accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Wain looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rutger must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wain trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Wain wants to control the position but Rutger says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Rutger controlling the action here. This has been an exciting period of action! Rutger moves into full mount! Wain won't be happy about that!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wain is looking to improve his position but Rutger isn't that keen on the idea. Wain tries to hold on but Rutger pushes him away. Rutger in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Rutger content just to control the position here. Rutger lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Wain is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Wain taking shots to the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wain keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rutger lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Rutger wants to control the pace but Wain is squirming around nicely. Wain is bucking up trying to escape but Rutger cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Wain is in all sorts of trouble here.
Rutger pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Wain is rocked! Rutger postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Wain out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Rutger goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gerlach Rutger! After the fight, Gerlach Rutger was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
