PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Santucho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dragon comes into the arena with puff the magic dragon blaring out of the sound system. Pablo Santucho acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Don Dragon!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pablo Santucho!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santucho closes the distance but Dragon moves to the side
and Dragon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Pablo Santucho has been cut.

Santucho decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Dragon wants to improve his position but Santucho is controlling well.
Dragon is looking to control Santucho's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dragon avoid being mounted?
Dragon avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Santucho.
Santucho is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Dragon!
Dragon is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dragon can't escape the position.
Dragon tries to hold on but Santucho pushes him away.
Santucho prevents Dragon from getting the reversal.
Poor strikes thrown by Santucho there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santucho is in the full mount, landing strikes.


It looks like Don Dragon has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Santucho cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Santucho trying to control but Dragon is having none of it.
Dragon is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Dragon tries to hold on but Santucho postures up.
Dragon blocking the ground and pound.
Santucho working away from the top, dropping strikes.


Don Dragon's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Santucho landing punches.
Santucho tries to control but Dragon wriggling away.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dragon slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dragon is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Santucho's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Santucho's back!
Dragon is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Dragon really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Santucho.
Santucho staying busy and making it hard for Dragon to control.
Santucho is trying to remain composed but Dragon is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Dragon wants to control the position but Santucho frees himself and scrambles - Dragon manages to regain control in side control.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Santucho tries to bench press Dragon off him but Dragon keeps the position.
Dragon in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Santucho really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dragon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dragon landing a few strikes.
Dragon trying to control the position but Santucho is working away.
Santucho tries to buck Dragon off but Dragon is having none of it.
Dragon scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Santucho to see if he's OK.
Dragon is looking to take a break and control but Santucho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Santucho is trying to get back to half guard.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Santucho is looking to reverse the position.
Santucho dodges the ground and pound from Dragon.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Santucho tries to bench press Dragon off him but Dragon keeps the position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dragon lands some shots froms side control.
Santucho is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Back to the action!


Dragon stuffs the takedown attempt from Santucho. Santucho gets slowly back to his feet.

Dragon throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Santucho tumbling to the canvas!


Santucho is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dragon pushing down on Santucho's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Dragon is looking to advance position but Santucho won't allow it.
Dragon lands with a punch from half guard.
Santucho is still in real trouble! Can Dragon finish him?
Dragon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Santucho seems to have recovered his senses.
Dragon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Santucho does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dragon takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dragon wants to take a breather but Santucho is having none of it.
Dragon thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Santucho is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dragon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dragon's back!

Dragon finds himself mounted whilst avoiding strikes.
Dragon is trying to escape the mount.
Santucho thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Santucho connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Dragon wants to control but Santucho is having none of it.
Dragon bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Dragon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Dragon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Santucho utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A clash of legs there as Santucho blocks the low kick.
Santucho closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dragon circles away.
Santucho takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.


The cut above Pablo Santucho's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Santucho tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dragon was well out of range. Poor timing from Santucho.
Santucho misses with a takedown attempt
and Dragon counters with a low kick, right behind Santucho 's knee.
Santucho takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Santucho takes a swing at Dragon's ribcage but misses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Santucho just misses with a punch to the body.
Dragon fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Dragon throws a nice inside leg kick.

Dragon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Santucho takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Santucho is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Pablo Santucho's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Don Dragon!

A very excited looking Don Dragon made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
