PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Walliminsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaiser Soze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Billy Walliminsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kaiser Soze!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Soze clinches with his opponent.

Soze pulls guard effortlessly.
Walliminsky scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Soze is on top in guard.
Walliminsky looking to control.
Walliminsky bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Soze's guard.
Soze looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Soze is looking to stand up but Walliminsky isn't so interested in that idea.
Walliminsky missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Walliminsky keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Soze's head.
Walliminsky would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Walliminsky trying to control but Soze is working from the bottom.

Soze preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soze is looking to stand up but Walliminsky isn't so interested in that idea.
Soze looking to control.
Walliminsky wants to control from the top but Soze keeps moving.

We're going to have a standup here because Billy Walliminsky wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Soze shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walliminsky as he jumps to the side.
Walliminsky moves to clinch but Soze breaks away
and Soze counters with a straight right hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walliminsky defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Soze.
Walliminsky shoots for a takedown but Soze saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Soze stuffs the takedown.
Walliminsky checks a leg kick.

Walliminsky fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Soze to the ground. Walliminsky is now in Soze's guard.
Soze pulls Walliminsky in close to prevent any damage.
Walliminsky trying to control the position from guard on top but Soze is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Walliminsky stops Soze from standing up.
Walliminsky trying to control but Soze is working from the bottom.
Soze pulls Walliminsky in close to his closed guard and prevents Walliminsky from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Billy Walliminsky just wasn't active enough.

Soze closes the distance and clinches.

Soze gets control of Walliminsky's arms and successfully pulls guard. Soze will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Walliminsky trying to control but Soze is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Walliminsky shoots in for a takedown but Soze shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Walliminsky. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Soze gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Walliminsky has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Soze uses from the top position.
Soze would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Soze tries to free his leg and advance position but Walliminsky is retaining full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Soze won't allow Walliminsky to sweep him here.
Walliminsky controls Soze momentarily but Soze frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kaiser Soze will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Soze moves into range and clinches up with Walliminsky.

Soze jumps guard and drags Walliminsky to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Soze wants to stand up but Walliminsky is controlling him.
Walliminsky trying to control but Soze is working from the bottom.
Soze striking off his back but it's not causing Walliminsky any problems.
Walliminsky wants to control from the top but Soze keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Billy Walliminsky wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Horrible takedown by Soze or perhaps it was just good defense by Walliminsky which made him look bad.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Walliminsky shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Soze's guard.
Walliminsky looking to sit in guard and control but Soze gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Walliminsky keeping moving, preventing Soze from controlling successfully.
Walliminsky wants to stand and escape but Soze is having none of it.
Billy Walliminsky overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Soze decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Walliminsky has a takedown stuffed.
Soze works Walliminsky's body with a nice hook.
Soze shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Walliminsky defends it nicely.
Soze moves out of range as Walliminsky strikes.
Billy Walliminsky is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Soze misses with a takedown attempt - Walliminsky sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Billy Walliminsky has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaiser Soze.
Soze dives in and grabs Walliminsky's left leg, looking for a takedown. Walliminsky pushes down on Soze's head and hops out.
Soze throws a sloppy head kick and Walliminsky moves out of range easily.
Soze is breathing heavily.

Walliminsky fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Soze avoids it really well and circles away.

Soze takes the fight into the clinch.
Soze tries to land knees in the clinch but Walliminsky avoids the damage to the body.
Walliminsky gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Soze.
Soze has Walliminsky pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Walliminsky manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Walliminsky fails to pull guard.
Soze stops a takedown attempt from Walliminsky.
Soze tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Walliminsky avoids it.
Soze wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Walliminsky has him pressed against the cage.
Soze is looking to break free of the clinch but Walliminsky has double underhooks.
Walliminsky tries to land a knee to the head but Soze blocks with his arms.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Walliminsky can't get the takedown.
Soze stops a takedown attempt from Walliminsky.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Kaiser Soze will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Soze avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Walliminsky shoots for a takedown but Soze saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Soze stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Soze wants it to stay on the feet.
Soze misses with a takedown

and Walliminsky counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Soze!
Soze tries to lock up and control but Walliminsky gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Soze is wriggling around trying to escape.
Soze is squirming around, avoiding Walliminsky's attempts to control the action.

Walliminsky controlling his opponent.
Walliminsky looking to control but Soze is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Walliminsky thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Walliminsky jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Soze is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Soze and Walliminsky has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Walliminsky wants to control but Soze is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walliminsky is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Soze is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Soze tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Soze sneaks back into half guard.
Walliminsky perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Billy Walliminsky has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Soze clinches up against the cage.
Walliminsky tries to pull guard but Soze holds him up against the cage and eventually Walliminsky drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Walliminsky. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Soze gets underhooks to prevent Walliminsky's takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Soze stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
A short right from Soze.
Soze tries to work over Walliminsky's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Soze wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Soze lands a left hand that snaps the head of Walliminsky backwards.

Soze manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Walliminsky is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Walliminsky drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Walliminsky jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Soze not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Soze trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Walliminsky slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Soze trying to keep a closed guard but Walliminsky is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Walliminsky gets to his feet. Soze looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Billy Walliminsky has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kaiser Soze is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Walliminsky shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Soze as he jumps to the side.

And that's the end of the fight!
Billy Walliminsky showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Soze has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
