Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wayne Pearson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Rashad Evans!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pearson looks to land a combination. Evans sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Rashad Evans has been cut.
Pearson lands with a good body shot.
Pearson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Evans.
Rashad Evans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Evans throws a low kick but Pearson avoids it.

Evans fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pearson sprawls well initially but Evans persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Evans not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Evans stands up out of the half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sloppy strikes from Pearson. Those never looked like landing.
Evans falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pearson counters with a nice uppercut.
Evans fails with a takedown attempt.

Pearson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Evans to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Evans stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Nice straight punches there by Pearson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Pearson.
Evans looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Evans rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Pearson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Pearson stalks Evans and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Evans's face. Evans staggers backwards, shaken.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pearson thuds a left hand into Evans's body.
Evans looks winded!
Pearson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Evans swings widly with a right hand
and Pearson counters with a left to the body.
Pearson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
BOOM! Pearson lands a beautiful left hook that drops Evans. Evans tries to recover but Pearson is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Evans lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wayne Pearson!
