The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams gets a takedown into half guard.
Gelznis wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gelznis trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Caron Williams wasn't active enough on the ground.

Gelznis wants to stand and escape but Williams is having none of it.

Caron Williams has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Gelznis throws a right hand that Williams ducks under and follows up with a left that Williams also avoids with ease.

Caron Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Gelznis goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Nice sprawl there from Gelznis as Williams shoots in.
Williams takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Gelznis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Williams circles away quickly and effectively.
Gelznis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Williams fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gelznis sprawls well initially but Williams persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Gelznis is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Williams has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Gelznis looking for a guillotine from mount but Williams is having none of it.

Gelznis misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Williams wants to hold on but Gelznis pushes him away.

Gelznis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gelznis has control of Williams's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Williams regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Gelznis is trying to push Williams away but Williams has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Williams wants a takedown.
Gelznis can't break the clinch.

Gelznis wants to get back to his feet but Williams is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gelznis pushes Williams off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Gelznis throws a series of strikes that have Williams backpedaling.
Williams fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gelznis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Williams moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gelznis moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
A shot to the liver by Williams. Beautiful body shot.

Williams tries to close the distance and clinch but Gelznis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gelznis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Gelznis!
Gelznis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Williams sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Williams shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gelznis as he avoids it easily.
No luck for Williams with that takedown attempt.
Gelznis pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Williams back to the cage. Gelznis follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

And that's the end of the fight!
Arturas Gelznis showed his dominance in that final round.
