PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bjorn Lannister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Oliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oliver has chosen Enter Sandman-Metallica as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oliver fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lannister to the ground. Oliver is now in Lannister's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Oliver slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Lannister kicks Oliver off and gets to his feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Oliver shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Lannister holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Oliver has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Lannister throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Oliver blocks it with crossed arms.
Lannister tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Oliver gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Oliver is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Oliver drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lannister looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lannister looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lannister!
Oliver tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lannister wants to stand but Oliver is controlling his arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lannister decides to stand back up. Lannister steps back and let's Oliver get back to his feet.

Oliver closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lannister did well to prevent Oliver getting side control.

Oliver is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lannister sees it coming and defends easily.
Lannister on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Oliver is stalling here. Lannister is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Oliver seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lannister has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Lannister tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
You can see the frustration on Oliver's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lannister decides to stand up, so the ref orders Oliver to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Lannister's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bjorn Lannister has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Oliver.

Lannister misses with a knee to the head.
Lannister is pressed up against the cage. Oliver has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lannister down to the mat. Lannister avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Lannister tries to close the distance and clinch up but Oliver swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bjorn Lannister seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oliver fails with a takedown attempt.
Oliver changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lannister tries to avoid it but Oliver manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lannister to the ground. Lannister escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Lannister looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Oliver drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Lannister is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Oliver content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Lannister has locked up a guillotine! Lannister's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Oliver is holding on here and Lannister must be using up a lot of energy. Oliver has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Lannister gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
