Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Hall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruslan Amagov! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Hall. A head kick misses from Hall. Hall misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Amagov.
Hall misses with a wild body shot. Hall throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hall throws a leg kick that misses. Amagov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Hall gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Hall looking for submissions off his back. Amagov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Hall trying to control but Amagov postures up.
Amagov prevents Hall from improving his position. Amagov wants to stand up but Hall is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amagov is stalling here. Hall is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Amagov seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hall has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Amagov tries to improve position but can't. Hall tries to advance to mount but Amagov denies him. Hall thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Amagov can do anything to dispel that myth. Amagov takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Amagov bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Amagov looks winded! Hall with a poor takedown and Amagov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hall's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Amagov drops back looking for a leg! Hall is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hall manages to kick Amagov off! Amagov jumps back into Hall's guard. Hall looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Amagov is defending well. Hall quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Amagov has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Hall celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
