Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kane Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Smith shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lucas but Lucas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lucas tries to clinch up.
Lucas moves into the clinch successfully.
Smith manages to pull guard.
Lucas stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Lucas instigates a clinch.
Lucas wants to stall.
Smith wants to stall.
Lucas manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Smith drags the fight down to the ground.
Lucas wants to get up but he can't break Smith's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Smith is pulling down on Lucas's head. It's preventing any offense from Lucas, at least for the moment.
Smith doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Smith throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Lucas throwing strikes but missing.
Lucas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lucas stopping the sweep attempt from Smith.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smith trying to strike off his back.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Smith thows a body shot but no joy.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lucas's waist but Lucas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dennis Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Lucas which made him look bad.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lucas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Lucas is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Smith's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Smith prevents Lucas from improving his position.
Lucas trying to hold on to Smith's head to control him but Smith postures up.
Lucas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Smith's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Smith's back!
Lucas is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Smith has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Smith looking very determined here, making life difficult for Lucas.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lucas has the hooks in. Smith is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Lucas connects with a big shot to the side of Smith's head.
Smith tries to escape the position.
Lucas gets his hands free as Smith looks to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lucas patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Kane Lucas will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Lucas, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Lucas against the cage but Lucas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lucas decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lucas is working for a submission of some sort.
Lucas tries to stand but can't do so whilst Smith controls his leg.
Lucas is tying to control. Smith wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith is trying to get back to full guard.
Lucas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Lucas is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Lucas performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Smith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lucas is working away from the top position though.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt
and Lucas counters with a single leg into guard. Smith didn't expect that.
Smith throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Smith is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Lucas has his hands clasped together but Smith extends an breaks Lucas's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Smith.
