The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paris doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Williams counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Williams wants to control from the top but Paris keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Paris is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Paris throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Williams escapes and throws Paris's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Williams wants to control but Paris is keeping him busy.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee warns Paris that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Williams takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
