The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cooper gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Baldwig stops Cooper from standing up. Cooper might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cooper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Cooper preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Baldwig throwing strikes but missing. Cooper wants to stand but Baldwig is controlling the position. Baldwig is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Baldwig working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Baldwig passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Baldwig working over Cooper with some ground and pound. Cooper looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Baldwig in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Cooper tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Baldwig!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). James Baldwig!
