Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jacob Donovan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alan Kolodin! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kolodin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Donovan. Donovan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Donovan wants it to stay on the feet. Kolodin slips under a jab from Donovan. Donovan misses the jab. Donovan misses with an uppercut. Kolodin saw that one coming. Kolodin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kolodin fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jacob Donovan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Kolodin. Kolodin lands a nice hook to Donovan's body. Donovan takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Kolodin avoids the body shot from Donovan.

and Kolodin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kolodin controlling the action here. Donovan blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kolodin.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kolodin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Donovan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Kolodin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Donovan wants to control but Kolodin is keeping busy.
Donovan is refusing to be controlled, as Kolodin sits in half guard. Kolodin works his foot free and advances to mount. Kolodin avoids the attempt from Donovan to control. Kolodin looking to secure an arm triangle but Donovan defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Donovan tries to lock up and control but Kolodin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Donovan is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Kolodin moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Donovan has worked his arm free - good work by Donovan!
Kolodin is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Donovan will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Kolodin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Kolodin cracks Donovan with a big right hand but Donovan just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Donovan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Donovan is looking for a sweep. Kolodin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Donovan is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kolodin drops an elbow to the side of Donovan's head. Kolodin wants to take a breather but Donovan is having none of it. Donovan desperately trying to maintain half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kolodin is keen to just control but Donovan is a slippery customer. Donovan is trying to maintain the position but Kolodin is very close to passing his half guard. Donovan wants to improve his position but Kolodin is controlling well.
Kolodin wants to take a breather but Donovan is having none of it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Nice shot lands for Donovan. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kolodin closes the distance and clinches up with Donovan, looking for a takedown. Kolodin pushes Donovan against the cage but Donovan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Donovan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kolodin's head. Donovan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Donovan throws the left hand but Kolodin avoids the punch easily. Kolodin shoots in for a takedown but Donovan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Kolodin ducks under a wild hook from Donovan. Kolodin slips under a jab from Donovan. Jab from Donovan. Kolodin misses the shot to the body. Kolodin looks for a takedown but Donovan sprawls well. Donovan tests Kolodin's chin there with a solid looking shot. A big right from Donovan misses. Kolodin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Donovan misses the jab. Donovan is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Donovan takes a swing at Kolodin's ribcage but misses. Kolodin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Donovan.
Donovan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kolodin. Jacob Donovan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kolodin shoots in and drives through. Donovan sprawls well. Kolodin fails with a takedown attempt. Donovan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Donovan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kolodin doesn't seem bothered though. Kolodin with a poor takedown and Donovan counters with a straight right hand. Kolodin looks winded! Donovan cracks Kolodin with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Donovan has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kolodin to stand back up!
Kolodin is rocked! Donovan pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Kolodin is still on wobbly legs! Can Donovan finish him? Donovan plants his feet and throws a brutal three punch combo that sends Kolodin swiftly into unconsciousness! Right, left, right! Boom, boom, boom! Kolodin face plants, battered and bloodied! He might never be the same again after that finish!

A very excited looking Jacob Donovan made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
