The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Button moves into the clinch.
Akina is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Button to keep the fight standing.
Button prevents a takedown attempt there.
Akina drops down looking for an ankle pick but Button pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ben Button has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Akina.
Akina shoots in looking for a takedown but Button manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Akina's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Akina takes a jab right on the kisser.
It looks like Ethan Akina has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Akina tries to score a power double leg takedown but Button sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Akina somewhat.
Ethan Akina seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Button lands a nice hook to Akina's body. Akina takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Akina looks winded!
Button lands a brutal uppercut that launches Akina off his feet! Akina tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
