PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drunk Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nevets Nitram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Abbott's entrance music is Stemm - Face The Pain. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drunk Abbott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevets Nitram!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott throws an overhand right that lands on Nitram's shoulder, as Nitram tries to avoid the shot.
Abbott clobbers Nitram with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Abbott tries to bum rush Nitram with a series of wild strikes but Nitram uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Abbott cracks a nice hook into Nitram's ribs.
Abbott tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nitram swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Nitram closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Abbott quickly recovers to half guard.
Nitram is thwarting Abbott's attempts to control the position.
Nitram content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Abbott looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Abbott really is a fat lump.
Nitram wants to free his trapped foot but Abbott is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nitram is taking a breather. Abbott says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Nitram trying to control the action but Abbott is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nevets Nitram was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Nitram closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Abbott quickly recovers to half guard.
Abbott is in trouble now - Nitram has advanced to mount!
Abbott really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Abbott knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nitram on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nitram sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Nitram unloads with some shots from mount but Abbott bucks and avoids them well.

Nitram gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Abbott thows a body shot but no joy.
Abbott throws a big shot that misses.
Nitram keeps the fight on the outside.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Abbott misses the shot to the body.

A looping hook to the body misses from Abbott. Nitram does a little dance to reset his feet.
Drunk Abbott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Abbott doesn't manage to clinch there - Nitram circles away.
Abbott lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Abbott looks to land a right hand but Nitram moved out of range.
Drunk Abbott is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Abbott swings for the body but Nitram moves out of range.
Abbott lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nitram at a distance.
Abbott throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nitram stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Nitram moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Abbott's corner calls for a 1-2. Abbott obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Abbott throws a hook but Nitram avoids it easily.
Abbott doesn't manage to clinch there - Nitram circles away.

Abbott closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Abbott tries to work over Nitram's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Nitram manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Abbott throws a good cross that connects.

Nitram shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Nitram wants to control from the top but Abbott keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nitram's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Abbott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nitram controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nevets Nitram hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Nitram uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Abbott.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Drunk Abbott will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Abbott blocks a head kick by Nitram.
Abbott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nitram.
Abbott dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nitram.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Nitram tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Nitram tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Abbott smiles and moves away.
Abbott lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nitram at a distance.
Abbott bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nitram's head.
Abbott fails to land with a series of punches.
Abbott tries to clinch but Nitram moves out of range.

Nitram shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nitram showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Abbott wants to get back to full guard.
Nitram is breathing heavily.

Nitram is trying to work for a kimura but Abbott is defending well.

Nitram gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Good standup being displayed there by Abbott as he connects with a hook.
Abbott lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Abbott.

Abbott misses with a hook.
Abbott fails with an attempt to clinch.
Abbott scores with a jab. Nitram acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Nevets Nitram is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Abbott scores with a nice strike.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nitram has closed the distance and engaged Abbott in a clinch.
Abbott is trying to stall.
Nitram blocks an uppercut.

Nitram has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Abbott regains guard immediately.
Nitram trying to control the position from guard on top but Abbott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Abbott pulls Nitram in close to his closed guard and prevents Nitram from doing any damage or advancing position.

Abbott is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Abbott is looking to clinch.
Nitram misses with a few strikes there.
Nitram shoots in looking for a takedown but Abbott manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nitram's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Drunk Abbott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nevets Nitram.
Nitram looks to score with a jab to the body but Abbott is just out of range.
Abbott throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nitram sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Abbott slaps away a takedown attempt from Nitram, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Nitram avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Abbott scores with a shot to the body.
Abbott tries to close the distance and clinch but Nitram swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Abbott fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nitram manages to avoid it.
Abbott wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Abbott lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nitram circles away quickly and effectively.
Abbott lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nitram takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Abbott scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Nevets Nitram has been cut.
Abbott moves into range and connects with a jab.
Abbott uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Abbott works Nitram's body with a nice hook.
Abbott misses the shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drunk Abbott dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Nevets Nitram's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Nitram shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nitram was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Abbott avoids a series of strikes thrown by Nitram.

Nitram tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Abbott is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Nevets Nitram comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Abbott has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
