Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jean Montillo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edilson Rubiera! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rubiera gets caught flat footed, as Montillo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Rubiera keeping moving, preventing Montillo from controlling successfully. Rubiera looking to hit a scissor sweep but Montillo is one step ahead there. Rubiera preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Montillo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rubiera works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Montillo tries to free his leg and advance position but Rubiera is retaining full guard. Montillo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Montillo preventing the sweep. Montillo postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Rubiera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Montillo advances to half guard. Montillo working over Rubiera with some ground and pound. Rubiera looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. This has been an exciting period of action! Montillo lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Montillo sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rubiera defending well though. Montillo prevents Rubiera from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rubiera slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Rubiera can't keep his opponent in guard - Montillo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Montillo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rubiera's head. Rubiera is defending against the submission attempts here by Montillo.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rubiera has his feet on Montillo's thighs here. He's pushed Montillo off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Montillo screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
