PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Conway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Conway might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Money in The Bank. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Josh Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnett keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Conway keeps the fight on the outside.

Barnett fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Conway sprawls well initially but Barnett persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Barnett slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnett tries to pass to full mount but Conway defends it.
Barnett misses with a head shot. Conway uses the momentum to regain guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Conway is looking to stand up but Barnett isn't so interested in that idea.
Conway is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Barnett stays in close to Conway's body and controls the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Josh Barnett hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Nice sprawl there from Barnett as Conway shoots in.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barnett looks to clinch

and Conway counters with a crisp one two that drops Barnett! Conway thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Barnett to his feet! Barnett is in big trouble!

Barnett is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Conway closes the distance looking for a takedown. Conway picks Barnett up and slams him brutally to the floor. Barnett is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!
