PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Wyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Mathison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mathison has chosen The Sickness as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Wyatt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Mathison!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wyatt wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Mathison keeps the fight on the outside.
Mathison tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mathison ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wyatt moves away.
Wyatt will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
No luck for Wyatt with that takedown attempt.
Wyatt leaves Mathison with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wyatt wants to clinch up but Mathison keeps it at a distance.
Mathison displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wyatt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Wyatt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wyatt swinging wildly here.
Mathison tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Wyatt manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A nice combination there by Mathison.
Wyatt doesn't manage to clinch there - Mathison circles away.

Wyatt gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mathison is trying to pull guard but Wyatt turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mathison has Wyatt pressed against the cage, preventing Wyatt from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Mathison jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wyatt walks away with a smile on his face. Mathison gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Wyatt fails with a takedown attempt.

Mathison looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mathison looks winded!

Wyatt tries to clinch but Mathison moves out of range.

Wyatt looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Mathison!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Wyatt tries to control but Mathison wriggling away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wyatt controlling his opponent.
Wyatt prevents Mathison from getting the reversal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wyatt has control of Mathison's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mathison regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mathison is working to get back to half guard.
Wyatt trying to control but Mathison is having none of it.
Mathison is looking to improve his position but Wyatt isn't that keen on the idea.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wyatt tries to control but Mathison wriggling away.
Mathison sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Wyatt wants to stand up but Mathison has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Wyatt is working for a kimura but Mathison is defending it quite comfortably.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mathison manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brandon Wyatt dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Mathison bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mathison working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Wyatt wants to control but Mathison postures up.
Wyatt trying to control but Mathison flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Wyatt is keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wyatt takes a big shot to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mathison gets his hands free as Wyatt looks to control.
Mathison tries to get the hooks in deep but Wyatt pushed the leg off.

Mathison has his arm under Wyatt's chin here. Game over son! Mathison squeezes tightly and Wyatt is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David Mathison!
David Mathison spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
