0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Terry McDermott! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gejowaty wants to clinch. Gejowaty tries to clinch up but McDermott circles away and keeps his distance. Gejowaty defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McDermott. McDermott fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Gejowaty tries to clinch up so McDermott counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. McDermott sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gejowaty's guard. McDermott takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. McDermott is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Gejowaty knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McDermott on the ground. McDermott landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. McDermott drops an elbow to the side of Gejowaty's head. McDermott is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
McDermott is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. McDermott is trying to control the action in half guard but Gejowaty is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gejowaty might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. McDermott prevents Gejowaty from standing back up.
McDermott is looking for a kimura but Gejowaty is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McDermott to get the leverage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gejowaty is staying active underneath McDermott, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gejowaty is trying to stand up here but McDermott is controlling him well. That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McDermott!
