Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Calirante (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skull Crash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Santiago Calirante! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Skull Crash! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crash blocks the body kick.
Crash walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Calirante checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Good leg kick by Crash there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Calirante misses with an attempted mid kick.

Crash is looking to score with low kicks. Calirante takes a swing at Crash's ribcage but misses. Calirante lands a right hook to the body.
Calirante throws a series of punches but Crash avoids them all with ease. A head kick misses from Crash. Crash chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Calirante can pounce on him.
Calirante misses with a straight right. Nice defenses there by Crash. Calirante feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Crash's calf. Calirante waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Crash. Crash throws out a powerful jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calirante tries to close the distance and clinch but Crash swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Calirante pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Crash lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Calirante has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Calirante and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Calirante takes a swing at Crash's ribcage but misses. Calirante throws a leg kick that is checked and Crash counters with a two punch combo. Crash checks a low kick from Calirante. Calirante throws a leg kick that is checked and Crash counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Crash blocks a jab. Crash checks a leg kick nicely. Calirante throws a leg kick that is checked letting Crash counter with a right hand. Crash lands a front kick. Calirante throws a poor cross that misses
and Crash counters with a left and a right that stings Calirante. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Calirante catches Crash with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Calirante looks to score with a jab to the body but Crash is just out of range. Crash throws a nice inside leg kick. Crash buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Crash throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Calirante. Crash uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Calirante. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Calirante, right into the meat.
Crash jabs at Calirante's body. A head kick misses from Crash. Calirante takes a swing at Crash's ribcage but misses. A solid leg kick lands there for Crash.
Calirante has managed to clinch.
Crash is trying to break the clinch but Calirante has him pressed against the cage. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Crash. Calirante lands a shot to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calirante struggles to land a body shot inside as Crash controls his hands.
Crash has had enough of the clinch but Calirante keeps him there for the moment. A short right from Calirante on the inside. Crash missing with knees to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Calirante creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Crash tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Calirante avoids it. Crash tries to circle away but Calirante has him pinned against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Calirante fails to land. Calirante controlling the action here for a moment.

Calirante lands with a light punch inside. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Calirante tries to throw a body punch but Crash avoids it by throwing Calirante back against the cage. Calirante lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Crash backwards. Calirante tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Crash's elbow. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Skull Crash will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Crash takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Crash avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Crash tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Calirante is able to avoid easily. Calirante feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Crash's calf. Crash ducks right into an uppercut from Calirante. Calirante chopping away at his opponent's legs.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Crash tries to circle away but Calirante has him pinned against the cage. Crash blocking some punches.

Crash has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Calirante finds it's way round the side to connect with Crash's head. Santiago Calirante seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Calirante tried to score with a low kick but Crash checks it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Calirante drives through and clinches with Crash against the cage.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Crash wants to break free but Calirante has control.

Crash's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. A clash of legs there as Crash blocks the low kick. Crash looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Crash tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Calirante attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Crash throws a leg kick and Calirante counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Calirante checks a leg kick. Calirante avoids the head kick by Crash.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Santiago Calirante. Well Calirante has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Santiago Calirante wins by unanimous decision! In his post fight interview, Santiago Calirante started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
