PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Troy Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Leduc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Troy Warner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Leduc!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warner misses with a jab, cross combination.
Warner moves in looking to clinch but Leduc pushes him off.
Warner shoots in looking for a takedown. Leduc tries to sprawl out of it but Warner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Leduc manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Warner doesn't manage to clinch there - Leduc circles away.
Warner misses with the combination.

Warner shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Warner is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Leduc has managed to free his arm - good work.
Warner slows the pace down in half guard.

Leduc kicks Warner off and gets back to his feet.

Troy Warner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Leduc tries to close the distance and clinch but Warner swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Leduc lands a slapping body shot.
Warner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Leduc is fending him off so far but Warner persists. Nope, Leduc circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Troy Warner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fight stays on the outside here - Warner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Warner pushes Leduc up against the cage in a clinch.
Warner pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Warner is trying to maintain a safe position but Leduc gets an underhook and turns Warner into the cage.
Warner is pressed up against the cage. Leduc has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Warner down to the mat. Warner avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Warner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leduc tries to avoid it but Warner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leduc to the ground. Leduc escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Warner is breathing heavily.
Leduc throws an overhand right that lands on Warner's shoulder, as Warner tries to avoid the shot.
Leduc scores with the left hand. Warner knows he should have avoided that one.
Nice takedown defense from Leduc. No joy for Warner on that attempt.
Warner takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Warner keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Leduc paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Leduc uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Warner.
Warner avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Warner fails with the takedown
and Leduc cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Warner has his takedown stuffed
and Leduc counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Warner slips a jab and a cross from Leduc.
Leduc has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Warner avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Warner moves out of range of the strikes.
Leduc swinging wildly here.
Leduc displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Warner.

Leduc cracks Warner with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Leduc looks to throw the jab but Warner is out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Leduc, as that shot connected.
Warner takes one on the button.
Leduc throws a hook to the side of Warner's head but Warner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Leduc gets a double leg takedown into Warner's guard.
Leduc trying to control the position from guard on top but Warner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Leduc must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Warner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Leduc doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Leduc manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Leduc wants to control from the top but Warner keeps moving.
Warner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Joe Leduc has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Leduc enables Warner to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Leduc manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Leduc is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Warner is controlling him.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Warner lands a couple of elbows.

Warner chips away with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Leduc will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Leduc loads up on a big right hand but Warner slips the punch.
Leduc blocks a head kick by Warner.
Leduc fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Warner throws a body kick that misses.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Warner.

Leduc drives through with a takedown into guard.
Warner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Warner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Warner is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Leduc really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Warner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Leduc postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Warner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Warner tries to get out of the position.

Warner is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Leduc frees his head nicely. Oh but Warner has switched to an armbar! Leduc is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
