Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Mali! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Burris! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mali gets a clinch. Mali gets a trip takedown into half guard. Mali is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Burris looks like he's trying to stand up.
Mali is nestled in close to Burris, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Burris is looking for a sweep. Mali is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Burris is looking to control Mali's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Burris avoid being mounted? Mali seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Burris wants to get back to full guard. Burris wants to control but Mali is keeping busy.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Burris moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burris prevents the takedown attempt.
Mali fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mali's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Mali has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Mali manages to pull guard.
Burris is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Mali has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Burris is looking to defend but Mali has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Burris! Mali pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Burris taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Mali!
