Summers comes to the cage accompanied by Conflict-Disturbed. Mathers has chosen Square Dance as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Marshall Mathers!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathers staying out of range there.
Mathers takes one to the side of the head.
Mathers throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Mathers swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Summers lands a jab.
Summers throws a right hand that Mathers ducks under and follows up with a left that Mathers also avoids with ease.
Summers misses with a wild body shot.
Mathers avoids the body shot from Summers.
Mathers throws a hook but Summers blocks it.
Nathan Summers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mathers lands an overhand right.
Summers throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mathers stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Mathers on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Summers uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mathers has time to react.

and Summers cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Summers is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Summers lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Summers swings widly with a right hand
and Mathers counters with a good low kick that Summers was not able to check.
Summers feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Matherss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Mathers avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Summers throws a right and a left that Mathers avoids nicely.
Summers swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mathers swings away with a leg kick that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Summers dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Mathers fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Summers manages to avoid it.

Mathers is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Summers.

Summers drops Mathers with a right and a left! Summers comes rushing in but Mathers regains his composure and manages to keep Summers in guard.

It looks like Marshall Mathers has been cut.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Summers throws a big right hand that misses.
Mathers is still in real trouble! Can Summers finish him?
Summers working some strikes from top position.
Summers tries to free his leg and advance position but Mathers is retaining full guard.

Mathers keeping moving, preventing Summers from controlling successfully.
Summers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mathers seems to have recovered his senses.
Mathers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Summers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Summers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mathers swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Summers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Summers drops back looking for a leg! Mathers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mathers manages to kick Summers off! Summers jumps back into Mathers's guard.
Mathers looking for a sweep. Not yet Mathers, not yet.
Mathers keeping full guard, as Summers tries to pass.

Summers throws a big right hand that misses.

Summers drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Summers jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mathers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Summers's guard.

Summers had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mathers defends it easily.
Summers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mathers can do to turn this around?

Summers is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mathers defends well.
Summers is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Summers tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mathers is posturing up here but Summers has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Mathers tries to roll out but it's too tight and Mathers has to tap! Slick submission there by Summers!

Nathan Summers very nearly forgot to thank STEEL PENN'S 160 OF STEEL $50 Hilo amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
