PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Storm Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Enric Palazuelos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jackson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Eye of the Tiger. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Storm Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Enric Palazuelos!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palazuelos tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Palazuelos throws a nice head kick!
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Storm Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jackson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Palazuelos is trying to defend but Jackson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jackson is pressing down on Palazuelos's thigh, looking to free his foot. Palazuelos is holding on for now.

Jackson is working for a kimura but Palazuelos is defending it quite comfortably.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Palazuelos tries to buck Jackson off but Jackson is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Palazuelos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jackson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Palazuelos parries the strikes from Jackson easily there. Jackson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Palazuelos to escape.

Jackson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Palazuelos, who protects the arm well.

Jackson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Palazuelos's shoulder. That is not cool.

Jackson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jackson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Palazuelos is squirming around, avoiding Jackson's attempts to control the action.
Jackson is really struggling to control Palazuelos but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jackson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Palazuelos can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's time! Jackson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

I would just about give that final round to Enric Palazuelos.
