Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Francois Permitis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Waldemir Warzecha! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Warzecha feints and as Permitis raises his hands in defense, Warzecha changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Warzecha lands a couple of digs. Warzecha drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Warzecha jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Warzecha loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Warzecha working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Warzecha throws a big right hand that misses. Warzecha throws an elbow that misses. Permitis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Warzecha's guard. Nice move by Permitis! Warzecha has his foot on Permitis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Permitis works his way back into a safe position though. Permitis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Warzecha has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Permitis has managed to get both his arms back between Warzecha's legs - danger averted. Permitis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Permitis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Permitis throwing strikes but missing. Permitis wants to control from the top but Warzecha keeps moving.

Warzecha is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Permitis throws a big elbow that misses. Permitis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Permitis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Permitis looking to sit in guard and control but Warzecha gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Warzecha wants to pass the guard but Permitis is keeping the position. Warzecha avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Permitis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Permitis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Warzecha is pushing down on Permitis's leg trying to pass to half guard. Permitis is fighting to maintain full guard but Warzecha has managed to sneak the leg through. Warzecha trying to control the action but Permitis is working from the bottom. Permitis trying to get back to full guard but Warzecha takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Warzecha is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Permitis can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
It looks like Francois Permitis has been cut. Permitis in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Permitis tries to hold on but Warzecha postures up. Permitis working to try and regain half guard.

Francois Permitis's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Permitis is desperately trying to improve his position but Warzecha has a good base and remains in mount. Warzecha is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Permitis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Permitis shrugs it off. Warzecha moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Permitis has worked his arm free - good work by Permitis!

Jeez, Francois Permitis's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Waldemir Warzecha! A relieved looking Waldemir Warzecha thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
