PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mo Hamed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mo Hamed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Douglas White!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hamed has closed the distance and engaged White in a clinch.
White avoids the elbow strike from Hamed, against the cage.
White goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hamed prevents it.
White changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hamed fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hamed ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
White tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hamed manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hamed lands a straight punch to the body, keeping White at a distance.
White shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hamed as he jumps to the side.
Mo Hamed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Douglas White.
Hamed misses with an attempted mid kick.

White looking to score a takedown here. Hamed is defending well but White drives through and ends up in Hamed's guard.
White not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

White drops back looking for a leg! Hamed is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hamed manages to kick White off! White jumps back into Hamed's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
White won't allow Hamed to sweep him here.

White seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hamed looking to hit a scissor sweep but White is one step ahead there.
Hamed could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
White postures up.
Hamed looking for a sweep. Not yet Hamed, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
White engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
White shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hamed sprawls well. Hamed wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. White gets slowly back to his feet.
Hamed wants to slow White down by chopping away at his legs.
White shoots in for a takedown but Hamed shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hamed throws a looping overhand right but White ducks down to avoid it.
Hamed stuffs the takedown.

White bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hamed tries to bench press White off him but White keeps the position.
White controlling from side mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hamed wants to control but White postures up.
White just content to control the position.
Hamed is trying to improve his position.
White avoids the strikes from the bottom by Hamed.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
You can see the frustration on Hamed's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hamed throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

White is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hamed's half guard.
White works his foot free and advances to mount.
Hamed is breathing heavily.
White controlling from the full mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Douglas White dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


White shoots in and drives through. Hamed sprawls well.
Hamed scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
White walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Hamed attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Mo Hamed is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hamed looks to score with a jab to the body but White is just out of range.
Mo Hamed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hamed.
A punch combination from Hamed misses.

Hamed closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
White has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hamed after a bit of a struggle.
Hamed gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from White.
Mo Hamed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Douglas White.
Hamed wants to get back to striking at distance but White won't allow it.
Hamed is trying to break the clinch but White has him pressed against the cage.

Hamed pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hamed pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Hamed misses with a body shot.
White shoots in and drives through. Hamed sprawls well.

Hamed instigates a clinch.
White wants a takedown but no success here.
White goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hamed prevents it.
White is breathing heavily.
Hamed trying to stall but White improves his position.
White drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hamed with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Hamed manages to break the clinch.
Hamed lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hamed misses with a wild body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hamed feints and then cracks White's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow White down.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice sprawl there from Hamed as White shoots in.
White uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hamed.
White shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hamed defends it nicely.
Hamed tries to bum rush White with a series of wild strikes but White uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hamed misses with a two punch combination.
Hamed scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. White doesn't seem bothered though.

White shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hamed wants to stand back up but White manages to pass into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White advances to full mount.
White moves to the back.
White has good solid back control here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
White connects with a big shot to the side of Hamed's head.

White working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Hamed is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and White has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Hamed taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Douglas White!
