Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rio Bignog!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aldo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bignog did well to prevent Aldo getting side control.

Bignog is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Aldo pulls his head out easily.
Bignog gets back to full guard.
Bignog trying to keep a closed guard but Aldo is proving a slippery customer.
Aldo wants to control from the top but Bignog keeps moving.
Aldo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bignog is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Aldo looking to sit in guard and control but Bignog gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Aldo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Aldo tries to get out of the position.

Aldo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bignog defends it easily.
Aldo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bignog on the ground.
Bignog trying to control the position from guard on top but Aldo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Aldo controls Bignog momentarily but Bignog frees himself.
Aldo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bignog drops back looking for a leg! Aldo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Aldo manages to kick Bignog off! Bignog jumps back into Aldo's guard.
Aldo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Aldo is trying to keep Bignog in close.
Bignog wants to stand but Aldo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bignog with a flurry of punches that miss.
Aldo wants to sweep but no luck.
Bignog forces his way into half guard.

Bignog is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bignog lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aldo kicks Bignog off and gets back to his feet.

Aldo tries to bum rush Bignog with a series of wild strikes but Bignog uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Aldo gets a clinch.
Bignog working hard to break the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Aldo lands a body shot.

Aldo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Aldo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Aldo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Bignog counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Aldo is breathing heavily.

Bignog is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Aldo trying to hold on to Bignog's head to control him but Bignog postures up.
Bignog frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bignog is landing with some decent strikes but Aldo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Bignog working away from the top, dropping strikes.

Bignog swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Aldo is now in Bignog's guard. A big mistake from Bignog there, giving up the dominant position!
Bignog has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bignog keeping moving, preventing Aldo from controlling successfully.

Bignog looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Aldo is sitting in close to Bignog's body. Bignog has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Aldo is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Aldo is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Bignog.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Rio Bignog!
