The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ribiero shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Ribiero sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bova defending well though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ribiero controlling the action here. Ribiero is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ribiero blocks the strikes from Bova.
Ribiero passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bova! Ribiero tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Bova is squirming around, avoiding Ribiero's attempts to control the action. Bova flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ribiero controlling the pace for now. Ribiero punishing his opponent with strikes. Ribiero working for a guillotine from mount but Bova is in no mood to give up. Ribiero landing punches. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ribiero trying to control but Bova is having none of it.

Ribiero wants to control the pace but Bova is squirming around nicely. Ribiero throwing strikes but Bova recovers to half guard. A much better position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bova regains full guard. Nicely done. Bova keeping moving, preventing Ribiero from controlling successfully. Bova throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Ribiero looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul Ribiero was stalling too much, according to the referee. Bova fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bova stuffs the takedown. Ribiero tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bova swivels and escapes. Bova throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ribiero was covering up waiting for the punch and Bova finishes the takedown easily into guard. Bova throws a big elbow that misses. Ribiero is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Bova has his hands clasped together but Ribiero extends an breaks Bova's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Ribiero.
