The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzales gets caught napping as Bates dives in and scores a takedown. Gonzales manages to retain guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gonzales throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Bates missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Bates will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gonzales lands a leg kick that knocks Bates off balance momentarily.
Gonzales fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bates.
Bates takes one on the button.


Bates is rocked!
Gonzales throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Oh Bates is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gonzales cracks Bates with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Bates tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Gonzales pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Bates is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hector Gonzales!
